Recycled Versus New(virgin) Paper

Is their a difference between recycled paper and new(virgin paper).

Of course there is! It is impossible to use something once re-grind it and expect it to perform the same as the original.
Is it worth it?
If you have a pie that weighs more than the average car you are going to need more meat to your box. The fibers with a recycled pizza box are shorter leading to a softer paper feel.
The recycled pizza box has been used millions of times in thousands of restaurants with no issues.
If you want to make sure your grand kids know what a leaf is on a tree, make sure you give them a try.

Have you ever used a Recycled Pizza Box?
I am going to be posting great links and money saving tips every pizza restaurant should know so stay tuned.

May "Pizza Box" Newsletter - Fat Sully's + Yelp

This week, I sat down with Ashleigh Shader, Co-Owner of Fat Sully's (established 2007), Atomic Cowboy (est. 2004) and The Denver Biscuit Company (est. 2010) - http://atomiccowboy.net.
Ashleigh and Drew have their hands full with three businesses and utilizing their space to the max.
I asked Ashleigh how she uses ONLINE MARKETING and how it benefits her businesses.
Ashleigh utilizes Yelp (www.Yelp.com) to her advantage. She set up a "business account" with Yelp so when one of her businesses get a good (or bad) review. She can either respond to it publicly, privately or ignore it. But at least she "hears" the review.
Reviews + Feedback help her business. Ashleigh wants to provide the highest quality of food and service to her customers and Yelp is a vehicle for people to voice their opinion (good or bad) about her service. For example, she said that when a server comes over to the table and asks the patrons how the dinner was. Most of the time, everyone will say, "Great!". But they could go home, get on Yelp, write a review and say that the pizza was "too salty". If Ashleigh sees at least two reviews that the pizza was too salty in one night then she can take action. She can walk back into the kitchen and ask if they had recently changed the receipe and discover solutions to the problem. She can then e-mail the customers that left the reviews and explain what they have done to resolve the "salty pizza" issue and thank them for the review.
Yelp helps you be a better business owner and hopefully brings in more business. (Everyone wants to know if their pizza is too salty, right?)

Paper Price Increase + Eco-Friendly Option ~

At this point you ahve either heard or felt paper product prices increasing. We have worked very hard to NOT increase prices yet.

A great way to decrease your pizza box costs is to transition to the new "eco-friendly" brown-on-brown box. It has the same great quality, more recycled content and no bleach used when manufactured. Call Matt if you would like to take advantage of the lower prices and this "eco-friendly" option.

New + Shiny

We have a new ride! A penske rental truck that is....*banana* yellow. We obviously need to "pimp this ride".
What color would you paint this? How would you design it?

We LOVE ideas ~ they are like half-chewed pieces of pink bubble gum - throw them up and see if they stick (note: this is NOT an effective brainstorming process if done outside...)

RIP Ol' Betty

Ol' Betty died on us last week. She was with us since we bought the biz in October 2008. We tried to keep her going (i.e. LOTS of visits to the mechanic) but the last snow storm stopped her in her tracks on I-70. What should we do with her now?
